VILLAGE BOARD MEETING MINUTES - MARCH 27, 2006
Mayor Skeet opened Committee meeting at 6:55 pm.
Members present: Mayor Skeet, Trustees Russ, Peterson and Patterson. Trustee Steinberg was absent. Also present was Al Graham from Valley River Inc. and Officer Dennis Yueckstock.
- Motion was made by Trustee Patterson and seconded by Trustee Russ to accept the minutes of March 13, March 20 and March 22, 2006. Motion carried.
- Mayor Skeet mentioned he would like to obtain a copy of Robert’s Rules of Order. It was suggested to check on-line through Google.
- Art Ianni from 14 Lawrence Avenue stopped at meeting to request another survey be sent to him. He said he never received one. Clerk Treasurer will contact O’Connell’s office to have one faxed for Mr. Ianni to pick up at the Village office.
- Upon Mayor Skeet’s request, the Board decided to change the date of the Annual meeting to April 10, 2006 at 6:30 pm, prior to the Regular Board meeting. Clerk Treasurer will contact Daily news with the change.
- Al Graham of VRI gave the Sewer Report. CBOD, TSS and Ammonia are all well under limits. There was no sludge hauled out this month. Regarding future projects, Mr. Graham said he has met with the engineers from Chatfield several times, and that the study is moving along. He mentioned that a lot of the information is the same information as the County study being conducted by Clark Patterson and that Chatfield will pass the information along to them. A copy of the meeting summary from Chatfield meeting with Mr. Graham of March 16, 2006 is attached.
- He mentioned that the worn out air valves on the aeration tanks are in the process of being replaced. He also said the electrical system at the cemetery lift station is working great now. The lights and horn are working and the pumps are now switching properly. They do still need to get the panel box up off the ground. John has been painting at the plant and did the control room last week. Regarding the door on the generator room, Al will measure it and drop off the measurements at the Village office.
- Mayor Skeet requested Al Graham to have Bob Kowalik from the Village of Akron give him a call regarding use of the sewer camera.
- Trustee elect, Tom Sobczak arrived at 7:30 pm.
- The Board discussed the newly vacant Maintenance position with regards to the possibility of reclassifying it as a part-time position. It was suggested to make the position 20 hours per week with the Board being involved in scheduling and setting up a log sheet. They agreed to work on a new job description or possibly changing the job classification to custodial. Clerk Treasurer will call out to Civil Service to see if they have a job description for Custodial worker or something similar.
Mayor Skeet said he did have two people interested in the temporary part-time Maintenance position in the interim until the new position is established. Clerk Thomas mentioned she had spoken with Civil Service and was told the Village may hire a part-time temporary person.
- Motion was made by Trustee Russ and seconded by Trustee Peterson to hire village resident Greg Lang as a temporary part-time maintenance person at $10.00 per hour until new position is established and filled. Motion carried. Officer Yueckstock reported that the Laptop is repaired and back in service. He suggested that the Village invest in lid clamps for the laptop to avoid excess opening and closing of the unit.
Motion by Trustee Russ and seconded by Trustee Patterson to authorize Officer Yueckstock to purchase two lid clamps for the laptop not to exceed $75.00. Motion carried.
- Mayor Skeet mentioned that Officer Retzlaff had requested the Village purchase tint meters for measuring the tint on windows of vehicles.
- Motion made by Trustee Patterson and seconded by Trustee Peterson to authorize Officer Retzlaff to purchase two tint meters for the Police department not to exceed $225.00. Motion carried.
- Police contract status was questioned. Clerk Treasurer got permission to call Attorney Disare to find out status.
- Board members briefly discussed Activity Log for the Police department presented by Officer Yueckstock. They mentioned they would like to set it up so a spread sheet could be established with a link to a data base.
- Police department meeting was set up for Saturday, April 1, 2006 at 10:00 am.
- Al Graham left the meeting at 8:55 pm.
- Brief discussion was held regarding the Court phone system. Trustee elect Sobczak said he would look into options through Radio Shack and other possible sources.
- The need for Road Runner for upcoming TraCS requirement was discussed. Officer Yueckstock reported that the County Sheriff’s expect to be on-line with the TraCS system within 3-4 weeks, and at that point it will be a necessity that the Village be on line. Officer Yueckstock was requested to get a spec sheet on what is required in a computer in order for TraCS to operate.
- Motion was made by Trustee Russ and seconded by Trustee Peterson to authorize the installation of Roadrunner in the Village and Court offices. Motion carried.
- The upcoming Corfu Family day was mentioned. It will be discussed at a future meeting. The Board agreed that village resident Andrea Vogler must obtain Board approval for any entertainment considered for the GoArts grant.
- Next Budget meeting was scheduled for April 3, 2006 at 7:00 pm. Clerk Treasurer to e-mail Board members with figures determined after the March 28th meeting to prepare for April 3rd meeting.
- Motion made by Trustee Peterson and seconded by Trustee Russ to adjourn meeting. Motion carried.
- Meeting was adjourned at 9:47 pm.
