VILLAGE BOARD MEETING MINUTES - MAY 16, 2006
Mayor Skeet opened Corfu Day organizational meeting at 8:03 pm.
Members present: Mayor Skeet, Trustees Patterson, Sobczak and Russ. Trustee Peterson was absent. Also present: Officer Dennis Yueckstock, Village Historian Allan Starkweather, residents Patricia Newton and Scott Lang.

Mayor Skeet informed the group that he had talked to the new owners of the Union Hotel and they said they will be happy to assist in any way they can, such as power, use of property, etc.
- Lighting on Maple Avenue was briefly discussed and the possibility of utilizing the portable generator with floodlights was brought up as an option if it is felt more lighting is needed.
- Scott Lang reported on his progress. He has spoken with Kiwanis and PYA and is waiting on their decision as to their participation. He will check with Ron Weiler of Sterling Tent regarding the possible use of stage sections and tent. He will also be checking with Louis Reeb of Pepsi regarding any possible sponsorship or assistance from Pepsi.
He said Cain’s Tae Kwon Do is definitely interested in putting on a demonstration.
- Trustee Sobczak said he has spoken with John Lamond regarding his band and they are definitely interested. Mr. Lamond is to let him know for sure by Friday, May 19th. The possibility of having Karaoke or a DJ during the band’s breaks was also discussed. Trustee Sobczak said he would speak to Mr. Lamond about possibly handling the breaks.
- The Police Officer’s involvement in the Family Day was discussed and it was felt that the photos with the jail cell really went over well last year. Trustee Sobczak said he has some battery chargers that could be utilized for the cameras so there will be less need to constantly replace batteries with new ones.
- Clerk and Officer Yueckstock will check stock from previous year to see what may need to be ordered. What is left of Child ID Kits and Gun locks will also be available to give out.
- Resident Pat Newton said she would speak with Bill Dix about the use of the Potter Lumber parking lot and power.
- Some discussion was held regarding the possibility of having some type of item to hand out to residents such as water bottles. Trustee Patterson said she would check on the price at Akron Rule. It was decided that the next Family Day meeting would be on Tuesday, May 30th at 7:30 pm after the Fiscal Year end bill paying.
- Officer Yueckstock, Allan Starkweather, Pat Newton and Scott Lang left the meeting at 10:00 pm.
- Mayor Skeet reported to the Board that Officers Yueckstock and Retzlaff are scheduled to cover Grad night on May 19th.
- Some discussion was held regarding the part time maintenance position. Some complaints about un-mown grass have been received from Village residents. Applications received through New York Job Force, and those already on file were gone through and discussed.
- Motion was made by Trustee Sobczak and seconded by Trustee Patterson to hire Erik Lang for the part-time maintenance position. Motion carried.
- Clerk was requested to call Mr. Lang to come in Thursday to fill out paperwork and have Officer Yueckstock show him around, and have him start work on Friday at 9:00 am.
- Motion was made by Trustee Russ and seconded by Trustee Patterson to adjourn meeting. Motion carried.
- Meeting was adjourned at 10:30 pm.
