VILLAGE BOARD MEETING MINUTES - JULY 10, 2006

Regular meeting called to order by Mayor Skeet at 6:59 pm.

Members present: Mayor Skeet, Trustees Peterson, Patterson, Russ, and Sobczak.
  • Motion made by Trustee Patterson and seconded by Trustee Peterson to approve minutes of June 26, 2006. Motion carried.

  • Received check no. 56106783 in amount of $411.11 from Citizens for Mar–May ’06 Gross Utility Tax.
  • Received check no. 134151 in amount of $1.53 from Trinsic Commun. for Mar–May ’06 Gross Utility Tax.
  • Received check no. 99541 in amount of $1275.95 from National Fuel for Mar–May ’06 Gross Utility Tax.
  • Received check no. 3600120552 in amount of $1328.90 from Nat’l Grid for Mar–May ’06 Gross Utility Tax.
  • Received Wastewater Facility Report & DMR for April & May 2006 from NYDEC.
  • Received monthly report from Town of Pemb. Code Enf. Officer for June 2006.

  • Motion by Trustee Patterson & seconded by Trustee Peterson to transfer $252.86 from Contingency #1990.4 to Police Equipment 3120.2. Motion carried.
  • Question was raised regarding Alden Sanitary Sludge hauling bill. Al Graham of VRI was called and said he would join the meeting. Bill approval put on hold until questions answered.
  • Mayor Skeet informed the Board that brake work has been completed on the Dump truck below the estimated figure. He also has spoken to Maintenance worker about making sure he waters the flowers on Main Street in front of Mercantile Dollar Store.
  • Mayor Skeet mentioned that the Maintenance building is leaking quite badly on the north side through the block. Trustee Russ said he would contact contractors for bids to do repairs.
  • Al Graham arrived at meeting at 7:20 pm.
  • Mr. Graham informed the Board that all sludge at the plant has been hauled out, including the big tank and two igloos. He said the drying bed is now empty. He gave a brief description of how the new system will work using the drying beds. He said they have not gotten the tarp system for the drying beds yet.
  • They have got the dumpster from Waste Management. Mr. Graham also informed the Board they are pulling the pit pump to be rebuilt by Bailey Electric.
  • Some discussion was held about drainage problem reported on Longs Lane in front of the Drozdiel residence. Mr. Graham said he would go there from the meeting to check the drainage from recent rain.
  • Al Graham left meeting at 7:35 pm.
  • Trustee Peterson said he feels we need to put together a 3-4 year plan outlining immediate steps plus long term to set some sort of deadline for expansion if the Town wishes to tie into our Sewer. Trustee Russ is shooting for a meeting with the school next Monday with Ken Scherrieble from VRI.
  • Motion by Trustee Peterson & seconded by Trustee Russ to approve the Treasurer’s Report.  Motion carried.

  • Motion by Trustee Russ & seconded by Trustee Peterson to pay the above General and Sewer bills. Motion carried.
  • Mayor Skeet gave the Police Report. The DWI night was rescheduled to July 30 for the Brooks & Dunn Concert. He updated the Board on the tremendous support we are receiving from Frank Caccia, Genesee County DWI Coordinator, not only with our upcoming DWI night and those to follow, but also with our DWI Grant Application proposal for 2007. In the grant he is working to help us get not only reimbursement for officer overtime for DWI, but a lot of much needed equipment for DWI.
    Mr. Ciacia is working with the Sheriff’s department for additional manpower and support for DWI night.
  • Al Graham returned to meeting at 8:05 pm. He said he checked and water is flowing in drain in front of Drozdiel’s but there is no pitch to the pipe so water will sit for a time. Mr. Graham left meeting at 8:10 pm.
  • Mayor Skeet also talked about the meeting with Sheriff Gordy Dibble. Because of Stop DWI laws that have been initiated, a location change had to be made for the upcoming check. More details about the upcoming DWI night were discussed.
  • Other items mentioned in Police report were that the computers from the Tracs grant have been ordered and received. Mayor Skeet is still in discussion with the Town about the proposed Police Office. The unmarked car went to Al’s Automotive for minor repairs. Mayor Skeet mentioned possibly setting up a few graveyard shifts for Police Officers.
  • Mayor Skeet mentioned that Steve Stocking of the Town of Pembroke contacted him regarding street repairs that need to be completed before winter. Trustee Russ said he would get ahold of Steve Stocking and meet with him to measure up and get an estimate for work to be done. Also Trustee Sobczak will check sidewalks and Village drains to see where work needs to be done.
  • Trustee Peterson will work on Sewer Plan. He would like to establish a flow chart format with dates.
  • Trustee Patterson will check paperwork on workshop for Storage grant.
  • Clerk will call committee members to remind about Family Day workshop meeting. She will also call Senator Mary Lou Rath’s office regarding grant request.
  • Motion made by Trustee Sobczak and seconded by Trustee Peterson to pay the Alden Sanitary bill. Motion carried.    
  • Motion made by Trustee Patterson and seconded by Trustee Sobczak to adjourn meeting at 8:55 pm.
