VILLAGE BOARD MEETING MINUTES - OCTOBER 25, 2006
Joint meeting with the Town of Pembroke convened at 7:35 pm at the Town Hall at 1145 Main Road. Purpose of meeting was to discuss potential of joint sewer project with Town of Pembroke to tie in Route 77 north with the Village Sewer system.
Members present: Mayor Skeet, Trustees Patterson, Peterson, Russ and Sobczak from the Village of Corfu Board. Supervisor Ed Beideck, Councilmen Pete Sformo, Edward Arnold Jr, and Clerk Andrea Davis from the Town of Pembroke. Albert Graham and Ken Scherrieble of Valley River Inc.- Mayor Skeet introduced Ken Scherrieble and commented that this meeting was just to get ideas out on the table. It was explained that the Village is in the process of a 4-5 year project of making improvements on the Sewer plant and lift stations to maximize its current capabilities. If there were a potential of the Town of Pembroke being interested in hooking into the Village Sewer, this would affect the direction and upgrades being made by the Village. The Village Board informed the Town representatives that the Village Sewer Plant is currently running efficiently at less than half it’s capacity. We are currently trying to project 3,5 and 10 year capital programs.
- Mr. Scherrieble explained that they have done some research into local interest in tying in with a sewer system at the truck stops, hotel, Subway and the school, and there was definite interest shown especially from TA Truck Stop and the school. At present Subway and the Hotel tie into Flying J. If any further economic development is in the works, it would seem they will have to have sewers. Mr. Beideck of the Town agreed that there would be an interest if it were economically feasible and if the capacity that is allowable to go into Murder Creek is expandable.
- It was suggested to pursue a grant to further study the feasibility, and to set up a meeting with both Boards and Jean O’Connell Grant writers, Clark Patterson, and Valley River.
- Mr. Graham said he would talk with Craig Jackson at DEC to check if the capacity that goes into Murder Creek is expandable.
- Mr. Beideck said the Town was having a workshop meeting next Friday and would see about setting up a committee to work with the Village committee to further pursue the issue.
