VILLAGE BOARD MEETING MINUTES - DECEMBER 1, 2008Mayor Skeet opened Winterfest meeting at 6:32 pm. Members present: Mayor Skeet, Trustees Peterson, Sobczak and Russ. Also present were Historian Al Starkweather, residents Patricia Newton and Cathy Skeet. Cathy Skeet informed the committee that the Fire Department has okayed the use of the Firemen’s meeting room for the Winterfest for CSX and Marty Phelps presentations. Clerk Thomas informed the Board that times have been set for the above as 2-3 pm Marty Phelps, 3-4 pm CSX, 4-5 pm Marty Phelps and 5-6 pm CSX. Mayor Skeet suggested contacting the puppeteer from last year and put her in the time slot of 1:15 – 2 pm to in same room. Cathy also said they have a second call in to Larry Kohorst as Magician and they have the paperwork to renew their license for bell jar games. Clerk Thomas informed the committee she is waiting for a call back from the VFW for 50/50 raffle. She also has sent cover letter and forms to the School advisors for their possible participation with December 15 set as deadline for response. Trustee Peterson informed the group that the Presbyterian Church prefers not to participate this year. Mayor Skeet said the PYA would like to do Roast Beef sandwiches and salt potatoes, and would cover pop, candy and popcorn if no one else wants to do them. Cathy Skeet confirmed the Fire Department plans to have hotdogs and hamburgers. Pizza Pantry has been confirmed to do pizza for the event. The status of the musical entertainment was discussed. At present no one has contacted Community Band, so Pat Newton said she would contact them by next meeting. Mayor Skeet said he has spoken to Craig Wilkins and he has the date open and would do his solo act for $300 for 90 minutes. Trustee Russ said the DJ and Karaoke guys from last year will do it again this year. Tentative times were set as 1-3 pm Community band, 3-5 pm Craig Wilkins, 5-7 pm A Fine Farewell, 7-closing DJ & Karaoke. Trustee Russ has spoken with the snowmobile guys from West Batavia regarding doing a safety program and they said they would get back to him. Mayor Skeet said that Brain Thompson is confirmed with his K-9 demonstration. Clerk Thomas said she would try contacting Paul Schuler about doing balloons again this year for the event. It was also mentioned to contact Holiday Hollow to see if they would like to participate, as well as High Point Church. Pat Newton said she would take care of contacting the Library. Brief discussion took place regarding the games the Library had last year and it was decided that unless they can be totally separate from the food and entertainment area, the games would not be allowed due to the disturbance they cause. Committee set next meeting date as Monday, December 15th at 6:30 pm. Motion was made by Trustee Sobczak and seconded by Trustee Peterson to move the following Resolution; Meeting was adjourned at 8:15 pm. Sandra Thomas |
